A French teacher may be required to give private tutorials and classes for those weak in the subject. Other duties include drafting examination rules and course according to the format and markings proposed by the state education department. They are also expected to allot marks as per school or college rules and regulations. French teachers often advise students who want to make a career in the subject after learning the language. A French teacher is required in schools, colleges, institutes, bilingual training centers, and foreign language institutes. A French teacher should have a licensure and a valid degree in French. Moderate English is also required for help in translation. Awareness of the cultural knowledge and historical awareness of France combined with any previous association with the country, may be an advantage for some positions.
